I remember watching this from the very first episode. I loved it, but even then I was too ashamed to admit it. However, I never knew the show was essentially hijacked from Japan. Wikipedia just killed my childhood:
Power Rangers is a long-running American children’s television series adapted from the Japanese [live action] Super Sentai Series, though it is not simply an English dub of the original. Rather, it is a ‘new’ production with English-speaking actors spliced in with the original Japanese footage in varying ratios.
